US President Donald Trump has paid tribute to Republican Senator Lindsey Graham following his sudden death, describing him as a “true American patriot”. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday, Trump said Graham was “one of the greatest people and senators” he had known, adding that he was always committed to serving his country. “We will miss Lindsey greatly,” Trump wrote, saying further details about the funeral arrangements would be announced later. Graham’s office had earlier confirmed that the South Carolina Republican senator died on Saturday, 11 July, following what it described as a “short and sudden illness”.
