Iranian domestic media report that the funeral procession for Ali Khamenei, the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, began in Tehran on Monday at around 06:00 local time. According to the reports, his body had been lying in state at the Grand Mosalla of Tehran for two days before being moved for a city-wide procession expected to last several hours. The route is reported to run from Enghelab Square towards Azadi Square, with authorities introducing special traffic restrictions across Tehran and Qom. Some sources also suggest that further ceremonies are planned in the coming days, including the transfer of the body to Mashhad for burial.
