Qatar has welcomed the agreement on a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important step toward strengthening lasting peace, regional stability, and economic growth at both the regional and global levels. In a statement issued on Monday June 15 , Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the agreement could play a significant role in consolidating sustainable peace and supporting economic growth, including through ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement also welcomed the commitment and willingness shown by the United States and Iran to resolve their differences through dialogue and peaceful means. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry further expressed appreciation for the efforts of Pakistan and other regional and international parties that worked to reduce tensions and bring the positions of both sides closer together, contributing to the achievement of the understanding. Qatar reaffirmed its support for all initiatives and efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability and achieving lasting solutions through dialogue.
