Reuters has reported that Iran and the United States have received a proposal to end the fighting that could be implemented as early as today and may lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The framework of the proposal was prepared by Pakistan and was shared with both sides on Sunday evening. The proposal consists of two stages: first, an immediate ceasefire, followed by efforts to reach a comprehensive agreement. The source emphasized that “all elements must be agreed upon today,” and the initial agreement would be finalized in the form of a memorandum of understanding through Pakistan’s electronic channel. However, a senior Iranian official stated that Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a “temporary ceasefire.” Earlier, the website Axios reported that the United States, Iran, and regional mediators were likely considering a 45-day ceasefire as part of a two-stage agreement aimed at paving the way for a permanent end to the war.
