U.S. media outlets have reported that Iran, the United States, and several mediating countries, including Pakistan, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, are engaged in negotiations to establish a possible 45-day ceasefire. These talks could represent the last opportunity to prevent a dangerous escalation of tensions in the region. However, officials from both sides have not yet officially confirmed the matter. Previous similar efforts to secure a ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel had failed, and Tehran had rejected some proposals, including easing restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a ceasefire. The ongoing conflict has caused significant damage to infrastructure and the military capabilities of the parties involved, and its continuation has increased concerns about a wider crisis, rising oil prices, and instability in neighboring countries.
