Shelly Klisten, an American journalist, has been kidnapped by armed men in central Baghdad.
The journalist had previously spent most of her life in Italy and worked for an Italian news agency. She also worked as a freelance journalist with websites and newspapers such as Al-Monitor.
Iraq’s Ministry of Interior announced that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
The ministry added that efforts are ongoing to locate the other armed individuals and secure the journalist’s release.
Iraq’s Ministry of Interior emphasized that no attempt to threaten security or target foreign guests will be tolerated.
