New documents show that the Taliban have distributed pledge forms at Kabul University, requiring students to commit to religious and behavioral rules, including growing beards, wearing caps, performing prayers, avoiding music, and obeying the group’s directives. According to the pledge, students are required to attend congregational prayers, keep their beards long, and avoid hairstyles considered against Taliban regulations. Entering the university without a cap is prohibited, and wearing traditional clothing has been made mandatory. Reports indicate that the directive is not limited to Kabul University, and students at private universities have also been informed. Previously, students at Herat University had criticized similar pressure and being forced to sign such pledges, saying these measures force them to change their appearance and follow Taliban-imposed rules.
