Iran Urges Regional Countries Not to Allow Enemies to Direct War from Their Territory

Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, has called on neighboring countries not to allow Iran’s enemies to direct military operations from their territory. Writing on X on Saturday, he said Iran does not carry out preemptive attacks, but will deliver a strong response if its infrastructure and economic centers are targeted. He added that regional countries seeking development and security should prevent Iran’s enemies from managing the war from their soil. Since the start of attacks by the United States and Israel, Iran has repeatedly targeted sites in countries across the region, claiming it struck U.S. military bases and facilities. Iran says some attacks against it were launched from the territory of regional countries, and that it therefore targeted the origins of those attacks. Regional countries have described these strikes as violations of their sovereignty and say they reserve the right to respond. Meanwhile, after U.S. threats to strike Iran’s energy infrastructure, Tehran has warned it could target oil facilities in regional countries, raising concerns about wider regional and global security consequences.
