Afghan journalist Lina Rozbih has criticized the Taliban and their supporters, alleging that they are gradually handing over Afghan territory to Pakistan. Referring to BBC satellite documents that reportedly show Pakistani encroachment into Afghan territory, Rozbih described Taliban supporters as Pakistan’s “real lobbyists.” Rozbih said that pro-Taliban voices often claim the group is opposed to Pakistan and even make exaggerated claims about advancing as far as Islamabad, but in reality, she alleged, Afghan territory is being surrendered to Pakistan. She challenged Taliban supporters to respond to what she described as BBC evidence, asking who the real spies and supporters of Pakistan are. Rozbih claimed that the Taliban are consciously handing over Afghan territory piece by piece, and that those who believe in the group’s strength are unaware of the reality. Meanwhile, former Afghan Member of Parliament Mariam Solaimankhil also strongly criticized the Taliban, referring to BBC satellite images that reportedly show Pakistani fencing inside Afghan territory. She said the satellite images clearly show that Pakistan has extended barbed wire fencing into Afghan territory. Solaimankhil questioned what the Taliban are actually governing if they cannot defend even a small portion of the country’s land, calling this a serious challenge to the Taliban’s claims that they control all national borders.
