Participants in the “Towards Trust and Convergence” meeting in London have emphasized the need for an inclusive political process to address Afghanistan’s ongoing crises. The discussions, held on the second day of the meeting in the UK’s House of Lords and House of Commons, included Afghan political party representatives, independent figures, and cultural and media activists. Attendees focused on current challenges such as rising poverty and the humanitarian crisis, calling for continued international support for the Afghan people. The extension of student visas for Afghan students was also highlighted. Several UK parliamentarians, including the chairs of the Defense and International Development Committees and the head of the UK-Afghanistan Friendship Group, participated and shared their perspectives on Afghanistan’s situation. Organized by the NGO “Women for Afghanistan,” the meeting brought together around 40 political and civil figures to strengthen unity, build trust, and promote shared values for addressing Afghanistan’s crises. Earlier, participants including Hussein Yasa, Bashir Ahmad Ansari, and Masood Torshtwal stressed equality, social justice, independence, and the importance of dialogue among all stakeholders. The first round of this series was held last year in Islamabad.
