The Israeli military has claimed that Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the naval forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in a strike in Bandar Abbas. Israeli media reported on Friday morning that the attack targeted Bandar Abbas and that Tangsiri was killed as a result. Israeli officials described him as a key figure in plans related to closing the Strait of Hormuz. Israel’s public broadcaster also reported that several IRGC command staff officers were killed in the same attack along with Tangsiri. The Israeli military also announced the killing of Behnam Rezaei, the deputy head of intelligence of the IRGC Navy. According to the Israeli military, Rezaei had led the intelligence division of the force for years and played an important role in maritime intelligence gathering and coordination with intelligence agencies. These claims have been made while Iranian officials have not yet officially responded to the reports.
