Tehran Says No Negotiations Underway with the United States

Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that no talks are underway between Tehran and Washington, and said that recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump are merely an attempt to lower energy prices and buy time for his military plans. The ministry added that regional countries have proposed initiatives to reduce tensions, but Iran’s position is clear: the country was not the initiator of the war, and all requests should be directed to the United States. Earlier, Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that due to “very good and constructive” talks with Iran, he had ordered that any military attack on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure be postponed for five days, depending on the success of the talks. Iran’s Fars News Agency, citing an Iranian source, reported that no negotiations are taking place and said that with this kind of psychological warfare, neither will the Strait of Hormuz return to pre-war conditions nor will calm return to energy markets.
