U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, March 21, threatened that if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping within the next 48 hours, the country’s largest energy facilities will be bombed. In a message posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote: “If Iran does not fully and without threat reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the United States will strike and destroy its energy facilities, starting with the largest ones.” He emphasized that the U.S. has achieved its objectives ahead of schedule, adding: “Iranian leaders have been killed, their naval and air forces destroyed, and they have no defensive capability.” Trump also criticized The New York Times, claiming the newspaper is always wrong and that he reached his objectives several weeks earlier than planned. The threat has escalated tensions between Washington and Tehran and heightened global concerns over the security of critical oil shipping routes.
