The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan announced that the country has sent over 290 tons of humanitarian aid, including food supplies, to Afghanistan. The shipment was handed over to local officials at the Hairatan border crossing. According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the aid aims to support Afghans amid severe economic conditions and to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. This comes at a time when many Afghan households face significant hardships and shortages of essential goods. Several regional officials from Uzbekistan, along with Uzbek representatives, attended the handover ceremony in Hairatan. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation and expanding interactions across various sectors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan also stated that this initiative is part of the country’s humanitarian efforts to assist neighboring states and promote regional stability. Although Uzbekistan does not officially recognize the Taliban administration, it has maintained political and economic relations with Afghanistan in recent years. Officials from both countries had previously announced plans to increase trade between Kabul and Tashkent to $5 billion over the next five years.
