Taliban Leader: Bombings and Artillery Cannot Destroy Us

The Taliban’s supreme leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, said on Friday during his Eid al-Fitr sermon that bombings and artillery attacks would not be able to eliminate the group. Without directly naming Pakistan, he stated that no matter how much bombing or shelling is carried out against them, people should not waver in their faith and beliefs. “Cannons and aircraft cannot destroy us,” he said. Akhundzada added that if the group could have been defeated by aerial bombardments and artillery, they would have already been destroyed by Russia or the United States. The Taliban leader emphasized the importance of justice, stating that the survival of the system depends on it, and that injustice leads to its collapse. He also referred to the ongoing situation in Palestine, saying he hopes that Muslims around the world will be protected by God from the ظلم inflicted by non-believers. Akhundzada stressed the full implementation of his decrees, claiming that the Taliban system is unparalleled globally. He added that without Islam, “we and you would now be wearing trousers and serving the West.” He further called for unity among Muslims and accused media outlets of attempting to create division among them. “Do not listen to Western media; they are against Islam,” he said. He concluded by stating that people have the right to question the government about the direction in which it is heading.
