António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has warned that the continuation of the war could spiral out of control and lead to catastrophic consequences for civilians and the global economy. On Thursday, he called on the United States and Israel to end the conflict before it enters a more dangerous phase involving Iran. Speaking to reporters at a European Union meeting in Brussels, Guterres said: “The time has come to end this war—one that risks spiraling completely out of control.” According to Agence France-Presse, the UN chief also urged Iran to halt attacks on neighboring countries, stating that those countries have not been parties to the conflict. He further warned of the potential consequences of an expanding war, emphasizing that continued tensions could deepen the crisis both regionally and globally.
