Morocco has been declared the winner of the African football championship following a controversial decision after the final against Senegal. The ruling came after a review by the Confederation of African Football. During the match, Senegalese players walked off the pitch in protest of a penalty decision. They returned approximately 14 minutes later and went on to win the game 1–0 in extra time. However, due to the temporary abandonment of the match, the result was overturned and awarded as a 3–0 victory to Morocco, granting them the championship title. Senegal has rejected the decision and announced plans to file a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, insisting that the victory rightfully belonged to their team.
