Amid Regional Differences The Supreme Court of Afghanistan has officially declared that Thursday, March 19, will mark the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Afghanistan. According to the court’s statement, the الهلال (crescent moon) of Shawwal has been sighted in accordance with Islamic law, confirming the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid celebrations. However, several other countries—including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain—have announced that Thursday will be the 30th day of Ramadan, with Eid al-Fitr set to begin on Friday, March 20. This difference reflects varying moon-sighting practices across the region, leading to different Eid dates among countries.
