Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israeli forces have killed Ali Larijani, the secretary of Supreme National Security Council of Iran, in a strike carried out early Tuesday. In a video message, Netanyahu claimed that Larijani was a leading figure within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which he described as a “mafia-like network” effectively controlling Iran. He further stated that Israeli forces also targeted and killed a commander of the Basij. Netanyahu emphasized that the objective of these strikes is to weaken Iran’s political system, arguing that such actions could create conditions for the Iranian people to determine their own future. The Israel Defense Forces also confirmed the killing of Larijani, claiming he had been considered a “de facto leader” following the reported death of Iran’s supreme leader. As of now, Iran has not issued an official response regarding the reported killing.
