The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation under the Taliban administration has announced the release of approximately 300 Afghan migrants from prisons in Pakistan. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said the individuals had been detained for periods ranging from two days to two months. According to the statement, the released migrants returned to Afghanistan via the Spin Boldak crossing. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Pakistani police have intensified the detention of Afghan migrants. Sources also allege instances of extortion and harassment targeting some of these individuals. Previously, Amnesty International had called on Shehbaz Sharif to halt what it described as the unlawful detention of Afghan migrants.
