Pakistan says its air force carried out airstrikes on three locations in Kandahar city on Saturday night (March 23). Some unconfirmed reports claim that Pakistan bombed a special forces center belonging to the Taliban, reportedly linked to the group’s leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, in the 13th district of Kandahar city. The strike comes as Afghan Taliban forces reportedly captured at least three Pakistani military checkpoints on Saturday in response to Pakistani airstrikes carried out a day earlier, and allegedly killed several Pakistani soldiers. Additionally, on Friday, drone attacks reportedly targeted the Hamza military facility in the Faizabad area near Islamabad. So far, the Taliban government has not issued any official statement regarding Pakistan’s airstrikes in Kandahar.
