The Taliban Ministry of Defense said on Friday that the military facility known as Camp Hamza near Islamabad was targeted in a drone attack. The ministry did not provide exact figures but said the strike caused casualties and damage to Pakistani forces. It also claimed that several other military facilities in Pakistan were targeted. Pakistani security officials said two drones were intercepted and shot down in the area. One person was injured during the incident, and the airspace over Islamabad was temporarily closed. According to preliminary information, one drone struck the upper floor of an officers’ residential building at Camp Hamza, Block 28 in Rawalpindi but did not explode, resulting in no casualties. A second drone reportedly crashed and detonated near the I-8 sector of Islamabad. Authorities say investigations into the damage and consequences of the incident are ongoing. Pakistani officials also reported continued disruptions at Islamabad International Airport, with flights temporarily diverted to other airports. The Taliban said the drone strikes were carried out in response to Pakistani air attacks the previous night on Kabul, Kandahar Province, Paktia Province, and Paktika Province, which reportedly killed several civilians and injured dozens more.
