The United States Embassy in Baghdad was targeted by a rocket and drone attack on Saturday in Baghdad. According to Associated Press, Iraqi officials said one rocket struck the embassy compound, with images showing a column of smoke and dust rising from the site. A security source added that a drone also hit the complex and destroyed part of its air defense system. Another rocket reportedly struck a helicopter landing area inside the embassy. The United States embassy has not yet issued an official response. The large U.S. embassy complex in Baghdad has previously been targeted several times by Iran-aligned militia groups. Meanwhile, two members of Kataib Hezbollah were killed in separate incidents in Baghdad. One member was killed in central Baghdad by a rocket strike that also wounded two others, while another was killed in eastern Baghdad when a vehicle belonging to members of the Popular Mobilization Forces was hit in an airstrike. Kataib Hezbollah has not issued an official reaction, and responsibility for the attacks remains unclear. The incident occurred two days after the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed to have shot down a U.S. aircraft, an incident that left six crew members dead.
