Rahmatullah Nabil has warned Afghan politicians not to allow their disagreements with the Taliban to turn them into “tools” of Pakistan or other foreign powers. In a recent statement, Nabil referred to remarks by Khawaja Asif, who said the United States had treated Pakistan “like used toilet paper.” Nabil argued that Pakistan had similarly used Afghan groups, including the Mujahideen and the Taliban, for its own purposes. He stressed that whenever Afghans have become instruments of external agendas, the country has suffered destruction, adding that wise people should not repeat the same mistakes. Nabil also said he is aware of negotiations, bargaining, and power-sharing discussions between some Afghan politicians and the Taliban. However, he emphasized that Afghanistan should be shaped by the will of its own citizens, not by the decisions of foreign actors. According to Nabil, Afghanistan will find stability only when the basis of political power is citizenship rather than ethnicity, ensuring participation for all Afghans.
