Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined three conditions for ending the war and achieving peace with Israel and the United States following talks with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan. Writing late on Thursday on the social media platform X, Pezeshkian said he had reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to regional peace during his discussions with the Russian and Pakistani leaders. According to him, “the only way to end this war, which was initiated by the Zionist regime and the United States, is the recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights, compensation for damages, and strong international guarantees against future aggression.” His remarks come as Iranian military commanders have earlier stressed the continuation of the conflict and the targeting of U.S. and Israeli-linked positions in the region, saying that “there will be no negotiations.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump previously said the war would end soon. A spokesperson for the White House also stated that oil prices are expected to decline once the conflict ends. The spokesperson noted that the war would conclude once the United States achieves its military objectives, including the destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities and missile industry. Although earlier statements from the United States and Israel also mentioned the possibility of regime change, it appears that Washington has, for now, stepped back from that objective. So far, neither the United States nor Israel has responded to Pezeshkian’s proposal and the conditions he presented.
