Dozens Killed as Heavy Rains and Floods Hit Kenya

At least 42 people have died following several days of heavy rainfall and flooding in Kenya, according to reports. Al Jazeera reported on Monday that intense rains since Friday have triggered flash floods in several parts of the country. Officials from Kenya’s public service and special programmes department told reporters that police have so far recorded 42 deaths, including 26 in the capital, Nairobi. Police also said fatalities have been reported in several other provinces, as heavy rains have disrupted daily life in many areas and affected transportation. The report added that floodwaters have submerged low-lying areas of Nairobi, destroying homes and causing significant damage.
