Donald Trump, President of the United States, has said he believes the only option for any agreement with Iran is the country’s “unconditional surrender.” In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump wrote that following such a step and the selection of an “acceptable” leader, the United States, together with its allies, would seek to help Iran emerge from its crisis and create conditions for economic growth. “Iran will have a great future. Let’s make Iran great again,” he added. The US president had previously said that the pace and intensity of attacks against Iran would continue, while also emphasizing that he would like to see a change in leadership in Tehran. In an interview with an American television network, Trump ruled out any ground intervention in Iran, saying that such an option is not currently under consideration. He also claimed that Iran’s military capabilities — including its air defense systems and part of its missile capacity — have been largely destroyed.
