The women’s division of the United Nations says it has been six months since Afghan female employees have been barred from entering the organization’s buildings. The Afghanistan office of UN Women wrote on X on Saturday (March 6) that despite unprecedented restrictions imposed by the Taliban on female UN staff, they continue to provide services to the people of Afghanistan. According to the United Nations, the continuation of this ban could place the delivery of life-saving services to the Afghan population at greater risk. UN Women emphasized that services and assistance for women in Afghanistan must be delivered by women. The Taliban announced a ban on women working in international organizations in December 2022. However, women continued to work in some UN offices under restrictions. Six months ago, the Taliban imposed a stricter measure, effectively prohibiting Afghan female employees from entering UN buildings.
