Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced on Saturday (March 6) that the country will stop carrying out attacks on neighboring states unless attacks against Iran originate from their territory. In a televised address, Pezeshkian said the decision had been approved by the “Temporary Leadership Council.” He also apologized to the countries that had been targeted by Iranian strikes and emphasized that Iran has no intention of aggression toward its neighbors. He added that countries in the region should work together to maintain peace and stability. During recent tensions, Iran carried out strikes on targets in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Officials in those countries described the attacks as violations of their sovereignty and said they reserved the right to respond. The decision by the Temporary Leadership Council is seen as a step toward reducing regional tensions and emphasizing security and stability among neighboring countries.
