KABUL: The Taliban authorities have announced the closure of Rah-e-Farda TV, a broadcaster founded by Afghan politician Mohammad Mohaqiq. Khabib Ghufran, spokesperson for the Ministry of Information and Culture, wrote late Saturday on X that the “media outlet affiliated with Mohammad Mohaqiq has been shut down and its assets confiscated.” According to Ghufran, the decision was taken after Mohaqiq allegedly described Pakistan’s recent attacks as justified and criticized the Taliban’s retaliatory strikes. Rah-e-Farda TV has been operating since 2006, primarily broadcasting religious and cultural programs as well as news content. Mohaqiq left Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power and is currently residing in Turkey with his family.
