ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan has announced that no dialogue or negotiations will be held with the Taliban. Musharraf Zaidi, spokesperson for the prime minister, said Pakistan’s responsibility is to protect its citizens and territorial integrity, adding that terrorism originating from Afghan soil must come to an end. “If we know where terrorists are present, even if they have supporters, we will act and eliminate the source of the threat,” he said. Zaidi also stressed that the international community must ensure that Afghan territory along the Durand Line is not used to launch attacks. Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, echoed the position, saying Islamabad’s sole objective is to eliminate terrorist threats and safeguard national security, and that its goodwill should not be interpreted as weakness.
