KABUL: Taliban officials in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province have announced the end of a border clash with Pakistani forces. Zabiullah Noorani, head of the Taliban’s Information and Culture Department in Nangarhar, said that Pakistani forces opened fire on Taliban positions in the Kot area of Nazian district on Tuesday evening. He added that the Taliban responded in kind, leading to a brief exchange of fire, but the situation has now subsided. Noorani claimed that no Taliban fighters were harmed in the incident. Pakistani authorities have not yet commented on the clashes. Earlier reports from local sources indicated that exchanges of fire had also occurred in the districts of Torkham, Nazian, and Achin, with both light and heavy weapons reportedly used.
