ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Sunday acknowledged conducting airstrikes along its border with Afghanistan, targeting seven “terrorist camps and hideouts” belonging to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and their affiliates, as well as the Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K). The ministry said the strikes were carried out in response to a series of recent suicide attacks inside Pakistan, including the bombing near Islamabad’s Imam Bari, attacks in Bajaur and Bannu, and a recent incident in Bannu during the holy month of Ramadan. The statement said: “Pakistan has conclusive evidence that these attacks were orchestrated under the guidance of TTP leaders and organizers based in Afghanistan. Responsibility for these attacks has been claimed by Afghanistan-based TTP factions and their supporters, as well as ISIS-K operatives.”
