WASHINGTON: Sources report that some advisors to Donald Trump, the President of the United States, are opposed to the idea of a military strike against Iran. They have advised him to focus more on economic issues and the concerns of voters in the upcoming midterm elections. A senior White House official told Reuters that there is currently no “unified position” regarding an attack on Iran and that advisors have stressed that sending mixed messages to undecided voters could be dangerous. Trump has consistently emphasized his preference for diplomacy, stating that Iran must reach a nuclear agreement before it is too late. Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy, added that Iran’s level of uranium enrichment has exceeded non-military requirements, and significant pressures have been applied in the negotiations.
