KABUL: Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative, to the United Nations, Naseer Ahmad Faiq has condemned the airstrikes by Pakistan on Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. In a statement, it was noted that at least 17 civilians have been killed in Nangarhar, asserting that these actions violate international law and Afghanistan’s territorial integrity. He emphasized that the fight against terrorism must adhere to international laws and called for an immediate cessation of such attacks during Ramadan. Reports indicate that last night, Pakistan targeted the districts of Behsood and Khogyani in Nangarhar, as well as the districts of Barmal and Orgun in Paktika. The Taliban have also condemned the strikes, warning that a retaliatory response will be given at an appropriate time. Inayatullah Khwarazmi, spokesman for the Taliban Ministry of Defense, labeled the attacks as a “clear violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and international laws,” stating that a religious school and several homes in Nangarhar and Paktika were targeted, and that a measured response to Pakistan will be provided in due course.
