KABUL: The United Nations World Food Programme has warned that Afghanistan is facing a severe crisis of child malnutrition, with conditions worsening due to declining international aid. According to the organization, millions of children are at risk, and among the four million children suffering from severe malnutrition, three out of four are unable to access essential life-saving assistance. WFP Afghanistan Director John Elif described the situation as unprecedented, noting that budget shortfalls put the lives of millions of children in jeopardy. The reduction in aid means that the nutritional needs of approximately 17.4 million people cannot be fully met. Families in remote areas continue to face acute shortages of food and limited access to health services, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
