KABUL: The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said on the occasion of the International Day of Social Justice that achieving social justice in Afghanistan is not possible without equal employment opportunities, support for families, universal access to education, and inclusive participation in decision-making processes. In a message marking the day, UNAMA stressed the importance of ensuring social justice, stating that every Afghan citizen has the right to work without discrimination and to earn a lawful income while preserving human dignity. The mission highlighted humanitarian assistance and the creation of alternative livelihood opportunities as essential components of strengthening families and advancing social justice. UNAMA also noted that no country can attain social justice if half of its population is deprived of secondary education a point it said directly relates to the current situation in Afghanistan. The UN body further underscored the importance of inclusive dialogue, adding that lasting peace in Afghanistan will only be achieved when women, youth, ethnic communities, and persons with disabilities actively participate in decision-making processes. The International Day of Social Justice is observed annually to promote equality, combat discrimination, and strengthen social solidarity worldwide.
