UK has not yet authorized use of Diego Garcia base for potential U.S. strike on Iran

TEHRAN: The United Kingdom has not granted the United States permission to use the Diego Garcia air base for a possible military strike against Iran. According to British media, London considers any potential U.S. attack on Iran to be in violation of international law and has therefore withheld authorization for the use of the strategically located base. Diego Garcia, situated in the Indian Ocean, is a joint UK–U.S. military facility. While Washington is said to be considering the base as a staging ground for possible operations in the Middle East, British approval is reportedly required for its use in offensive action. The British media reports come a day after CNN said U.S. forces were prepared to carry out a potential strike on Iran by the end of the current week.
