BAMYAN: Taliban authorities in Bamyan have detained a driver for allegedly transporting a woman without a male guardian, according to a statement from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. Local Taliban officials said the driver had previously received repeated warnings but failed to comply, leading to his arrest. In a public notice, the provincial department said drivers had been repeatedly instructed not to carry women passengers unless accompanied by a male guardian, or mahram. Since returning to power in 2021, the Taliban have imposed sweeping restrictions on women, including limits on travel without a male family member.
