ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has summoned the deputy head of the Taliban embassy in Islamabad to lodge a formal protest following a deadly car bombing in Bajaur District, officials and local media reported Thursday. The attack, which took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed 11 Pakistani soldiers and 12 militants from Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to Pakistani authorities. Islamabad strongly condemned the assault, warning that such incidents carry serious implications for regional security. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan remains deeply concerned about the continued operations of the TTP, which it alleges is led from bases inside Afghanistan. Despite assurances from the Taliban authorities, Andrabi said, “no significant or tangible action” has been taken to curb the group’s activities. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned that Islamabad could carry out airstrikes inside Afghanistan if deemed necessary, underscoring rising tensions between the two neighboring countries.
