Iran launches large-scale naval drills in the Strait of Hormuz

KABUL: Iran has begun extensive naval military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media reported, citing the naval arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the reports, the drills, which started on Sunday, include live-fire exercises, missile tests, drone operations, and a range of maritime maneuvers. IRGC officials said the primary objective of the exercises is to enhance readiness against potential threats in the region and to test defensive capabilities under operational conditions. They stressed that the drills are aimed at ensuring control over the Strait of Hormuz and safeguarding national security. The exercises are also intended to assess Iran’s naval capabilities in real-world scenarios and to ensure a rapid response to emergencies and possible threats in the region, the reports added.
