Five killed in traffic accident on Kabul–Kandahar highway in Ghazni

GHAZNI: At least five people were killed and one other injured in a traffic accident on the Kabul–Kandahar highway in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province, local officials said on Tuesday. The crash occurred early in the morning in the Al-Badr area of Ab Band district, following a collision between a cargo truck and a passenger vehicle, according to Khalid Sarhadi, spokesperson for the Taliban-run provincial police command. Sarhadi said the accident was caused by driver negligence. Traffic accidents have increased noticeably over the past week along the Kabul–Kandahar highway, one of the country’s busiest transport routes.
