Afghan and Uzbek traders sign MoUs worth over $300 million

KABUL: Traders from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed 25 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth more than $300 million at a bilateral trade connectivity conference, according to the Taliban Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The agreements cover a wide range of sectors, including construction, food products, agriculture, furniture and furnishings, and pharmaceuticals. The two sides also agreed to implement preferential trade arrangements for eight Afghan products and six Uzbek products. Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban’s acting minister of industry and commerce, said trade relations between the two countries have grown significantly in recent years and hold strong potential for further expansion. Erkinjon Turdimov, governor of Uzbekistan’s Sirdaryo region, described bilateral trade ties as positive and urged business leaders to put forward opportunities and proposals to deepen cooperation further.
