KABUL: The Women’s Cry Movement, an Afghan women’s rights group, said in a statement on Monday that denying girls and women access to education, work, and social participation constitutes a clear violation of fundamental human rights. “We do not ask for pity; we demand justice. We do not seek sympathy; we want our rights,” the statement said. Members of the movement also carried out a symbolic action to underline that aspiring to learn and build a future is not a crime. They stressed that Afghan women will continue their struggle to achieve their basic rights despite ongoing restrictions.
