KABUL: Hundreds of thousands of Iranians gathered in Toronto, Canada, calling for political change in Iran and voicing opposition to what they described as ongoing repression in the country. The demonstration took place just hours after a similar rally by Iranians in Munich, highlighting coordinated activism among the Iranian diaspora across multiple countries. According to the Toronto Police Service, approximately 350,000 people participated in the Toronto gathering, making it one of the largest demonstrations by Iranians outside their homeland in recent years. Protesters carried banners and chanted slogans demanding fundamental changes to Iran’s political system, while organizers described the rally as a show of global solidarity with those facing repression inside the country. The rally, organized at the invitation of Reza Pahlavi, was part of a larger initiative that took place in several other cities, including Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Halifax. Reports indicate that many Iranian immigrants traveled from various parts of Canada and even the United States to participate in the Toronto rally. According to the police, one individual was arrested during the gathering, and certain roads were closed ahead of the march for security reasons. This event is considered part of the “Global Day of Action” for Iranians living abroad. In the Munich protests, Reza Pahlavi was also joined by Lindsey Graham, who delivered a speech.
