KABUL: Murtaza Sadiqi, a 43-year-old Afghan citizen and owner of the “Sapida” restaurant in Hamburg, Germany, has died after being stabbed multiple times. German police reported that the conflict began around 9:30 PM local time inside the restaurant and spilled out into the parking lot behind the building. The victim was severely injured during the incident and was immediately taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. Sadiqi, originally from Herat, had been living in Germany for over 35 years and established the “Sapida” restaurant approximately 25 years ago. The restaurant was well-known for its Afghan and Iranian cuisine, and neighbors and customers regarded him as a well-respected individual. According to Persian media reports, the conflict arose over a request from an Iranian-born individual to display the “Lion and Sun” flag in the restaurant, which Sadiqi opposed. As of now, police have not released an official motive for the incident, and the suspect has fled the scene. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend him.
