WASHINGTON: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, stated after his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that it is essential to continue negotiations with Iran, and reaching an agreement is his preferred option. Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that his meeting with Netanyahu and several Israeli officials was “very good.” He added, “No definitive decisions were made, except to emphasize that negotiations with Iran should continue to determine whether an agreement is possible.” According toTrump, if such an agreement is reached, “this will be our preferred option.” He also warned that if no agreement is achieved, “we will have to see what the outcome will be.” Netanyahu had previously announced that the issue of Iran and nuclear negotiations would be the main focus of his talks with Trump during his trip to the U.S. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Sayed Abbas Araghchi responded to what he called “Israeli media claims.” He wrote on his X account on Thursday that a media outlet linked to “Miriam Adelson” had claimed shortly before Netanyahu’s meeting with the U.S. President that Iran had “deceived” Trump. He emphasized: “No executions have taken place, no legal processes have concluded, and more than two thousand prisoners have been pardoned.” The Iranian Foreign Minister added that before accepting such narratives, it is important to examine whose interests these claims serve and who might be “deceiving” others. The statements came a day after the U.S. President and Israeli Prime Minister discussed the nuclear negotiations between the U.S. and Iran at the White House.
