KABUL: An international women’s rights organization has reported that a woman from a remote area of Afghanistan sent an open letter to Elon Musk, the renowned billionaire and owner of SpaceX, requesting internet access to facilitate the education of girls in Afghanistan. They stated that the internet is not just a source of entertainment for them but the only means to connect with the world. The letter highlights that while the world is contemplating travel to Mars, Afghan girls have been deprived of their basic educational rights for the past four years. In her letter addressed to Elon Musk, the woman wrote: “Your Starlink technology could provide Afghan girls with the opportunity to learn and shape their own future.” This comes as restrictions on girls’ education continue in the country, and many Afghan girls are attempting to continue their studies through online courses but face numerous challenges due to weak internet connectivity and high costs.
