TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Ministry has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to the United States could negatively impact the ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., disrupting the diplomatic efforts. The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry said at a press conference in Tehran that Israel has consistently sought to obstruct political and security processes in the region and still does not wish for talks between Iran and the U.S. to reach any conclusions. According to him, Netanyahu’s visit is an attempt to apply pressure and alter the agenda of the discussions. He emphasized that Iran is committed to resolving issues through negotiations and aims to take practical steps toward lifting sanctions and mutual understanding, but external pressures could slow or complicate the process. On the other hand, during his visit, Netanyahu indicated that he would discuss not only Iran’s nuclear program but also ballistic missiles and regional activities with U.S. officials, stressing that any agreement must address these issues as well. Analysts suggest that recent contacts between Washington and Tehran signal a warming in discussions, but the political competition in the region and conflicting positions remain significant obstacles to a broader agreement.
