KABUL: Hamid Karzai, the former President of Afghanistan, stated that the growth and advancement of society in various sectors depend on the active participation of women and girls, which can only be achieved through their access to education and knowledge. On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Mr. Karzai acknowledged the role of Afghan women and girls in social spheres and emphasized the importance of their involvement in the country’s development. He urged women and girls to strive by any means possible to achieve education and contribute to the progress of the nation. This comes as it has been 1,607 days since girls in Afghanistan have been barred from attending middle and high schools. Moreover, university and medical institute doors remain closed to them, and women’s work has been prohibited in many sectors.
